Frequently Asked Questions

What denomination is your church and what is a Bible Church?

Lee's Summit Bible Church is an independent and fundamental church.  Independent means that we are not identified with nor are we members of a denomination.  All decisions related to Lee's Summit Bible Church are made by our deacon & elder board based solely on God's Word as the final authority.  Fundamental & Bible signify our commitment to the fundamental authority of God's Word in all matters of faith, doctrine, and practice.

What is the preaching like?

The Pastors and Elders of Lee's Summit Bible Church are committed to the preaching and teaching of God's Word.  We conduct an expository preaching ministry.  What does that mean?  Simply, that we preach the Bible verse by verse, explaining and declaring God's Truth in the Biblical context (Nehemiah 8:8). This method helps the listener to get a better grasp on each verse, chapter and entire books of the Bible.  It also demands that the preacher draw out the meaning of each verse (exegesis) rather than take a verse or verses out of context to build a message.  Our goal is to encourage everyone who attends to be a student of God's Word, studying and applying it to their individual lives to grow in Christ-likeness and Godliness.  See the Ministries page for a current preaching schedule.  Our Pastors use the New King James Bible in the services.

What is your "Worship style"?

God's Word points over and over again to the importance of sound doctrine over all (Galatians 1:6-9; 2 Timothy 3:1-17; 4:1-5; 2 John; 3 John; Jude). Therefore, our focus is on the faithful and correct teaching and preaching of God's Word. Music used in our worship services is that which is doctrinally sound (Ephesians 5:15-21; Colossians 3:15-17), and which will effectively prepare the heart to receive God's Word.  Primarily, we enjoy traditional hymns accompanied by piano, organ, violin, flute, trumpet, and guitar.  We also have a seasonal choir and special music presentations at each morning service.

What do you offer for children?

Lee's Summit Bible Church cares about the spiritual growth of children.  That's why we offer classes rich in Bible during the Sunday School, Morning Service, and Wednesday Evening Services.  Our Sunday School classes (ages 2 through 6th grade use ABeka Joyful Life Sunday School Material.  Our In Pursuit Classes focus on various books of the Bible.  Our Children's Church (ages 2 - Kindergarten) also uses Regular Baptist Press material and employs craft, snack, music, and lesson time.  Our newest Children's Ministry addition is Kids4Truth, meeting every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. September through May.  Click here to learn more about Kids4Truth at Lee's Summit Bible Church.

Do you have teen programs?

Lee's Summit Bible Church has an active youth group made up of 7th-12th grade students from public, Christian, and home schools, called In Pursuit.  The youth group meets each Wednesday night for food, games, and Bible Study beginning at 6:45 p.m.  They also meet at least once a month for a youth activity and/or Afterglow.  The new In Pursuit Snack Shop is open at least 15 minutes prior to each service and is a great place to have a snack, play a game of foosball, ping pong, air hockey, or just hang out and chat.  We also enjoy regular retreats at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Do you have any additional adult ministries?

Lee's Summit Bible Church offers three adult Sunday School Classes. The College and Career class is designed for young adult singles with studies changing each quarter.  The Home Builders Class deals with studies and topics important to young famlies such as parenting, finances, etc.  The Biblical Studies Class focuses on studies in books of God's Word and occasional topical studies.  We also offer an Adult Bible Study each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  For the latest offerings, see the Ministries page.  During the Fall, Winter, and Spring, we also have Men's and Women's Bible Studies.
